desert farmers’ market
August 22, 2009
The fact that Downtown Phoenix has a farmers’ market just goes to show you how much this city has grown both socially and culturally. It’s a lovely place with both fresh fruits, vegetables and already made-foods like breads along with all kinds of crafts. My personal favorite vendor is Doctor Hummus. They sell all kinds of hummus, pestos and pita chips. Ok, their prices are on the high side, but it’s handmade pesto and hummus, what do you expect!?!?
Anyways, the farmers’ market is open both Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings. There’s slight variation in the vendors, but not that much. I think there are actually a few more on Wednesday nights, especially in this summer heat. The non-profit group has also recently received a large grant which they’re using to build a permanent store, which will be open during the week.

Good thing there are shades to keep the summer heat away.
