[2 years ago] uruguay

Visiting Uruguay was an after thought once I realized the amount of time I had allotted to Argentina (almost a week). To get there, I simply took a boat across the river/bay from Buenos Aires to Colonia and then made it by bus over to the capital city Montevideo.

All in all, I didn’t have much time in the country. But Uruguay is one of those hidden gems of South America where South Americans know about it and go there to vacation but people in the rest of the world often overlook it. I think it also has to do with the fact that it rhymes with Paraguay so the two are often linked together even though they have nothing to do with each other.
I stayed in Montevideo one night in an international hostel. My best find? A really cheap but handy European outlet adapter because Uruguay, Argentina and Chile all use those kinds of outlets, something I didn’t realize until I arrived since the more northern countries had American outlets.

i like the stone paved streets!
oh yeah! so weird how countries all use different outlets. how inconvenient!
what do their outlets look like?
