{oosterdam} on board eats (part 2)

January 29, 2012

After appetizers, there was always an option of soup or salad. I generally ordered the soup because none of the salads sounded all that amazing. One night, I heard the elderly gentlemen seated next to us complaining to the waiter about the Caesar salad because he said just throwing some Parmesan cheese, croutons, and dressing on top of romaine lettuce did not equal a real Caesar. I don’t know what real Caesar salad is, but anyway, the soups were always pretty good.

The most interesting one they had was an ox-tail soup. Of course, this is something my mom and grandmothers always made so I knew what flavors I was looking for. Flavor wise, they did alright, but in terms of actual ox-tail meat, there was definitely something lacking there even though it did come with the coolest pastry topping!

Soup seems slightly pale in comparison with appetizer, main entree and dessert. May be we are just spoiled by the delicious looking choices in the other courses.
