the humblest of pizza pies

February 11, 2012

There are three Humble Pies in the Valley: North Scottsdale, Desert Ridge, and Central Phoenix. Of course, you might guess that we went to the Central Phoenix one located right on 7th Street south of Thomas Road. What’s weird is that I’ve known about Humble Pie for awhile now, but I had only known about the Desert Ridge one. In fact, I saw it when I went to the Musical Instrument Museum in May of 2010! I didn’t even know there was one located in Central Phoenix until a few weeks ago. It opened in the middle of last year.

Walking in, the entire place was super dimly lit, but what was really awesome was the fact that the stone pizza oven was right in the middle of the entire place! The guys who made the pizza also worked right there so we literally saw the man make our pizzas, stretching out the dough with his hands and everything.

Having looked up the menu before hand, I knew I really wanted to order the Egg Pizza. We also got the S.O.P. and free water (ha!). The thin-crusted pizzas tasted fine, pretty normal, really, but I did notice that the crust had a bit of salt in it — it wasn’t necessarily bad, just saltier than other pizza I’ve eaten in the past.

Welcome!
