July 3, 2012
Wickenburg has really taken its status as an iconic Western town to heart. In October of 2008, the DeVore Foundation dedicated The Wickenburg Streetscape Sculptures consisting of a series of bronze sculptures depicting both iconic Wickenburg people and animals. Starting today and for the next couple of days, we’ll take a look at the iconic hotelier, felon, dancers, vaquero, miner, teacher, and creepy crawlies.
Day 1 in our tour of iconic Wickenburg is the hotelier or African American businesswoman. Depicting Mrs. Elizabeth Smith, the original owner of the Hassayampa Hotel, which she stands in front of. This was her in the late 1800′s welcoming her guests.
