{nyc} historic grand central

February 5, 2013

Happy Birthday Grand Central Terminal! Did you know Grand Central turns 100 this year? It first opened its doors at 12:01 am on Feb. 2, 1913 and was visited by more than 150,000 that day. Construction wasn’t technically entirely completed yet, but its arrival changed the course of NYC history. And today, 100 faithful years later, Grand Central Terminal is still the hub of transportation in New York City. The buildings around it may have grown taller, the stores may be quite a bit more modern, and everything may now be computerized and electronic, but there’s still that grand sense of history when you walk in view of that infamous Grand Central Terminal clock. 100 years later, this place is still buzzing like none other!
