{nyc} 18 miles of books

February 16, 2013

Imagine a book store filled to the brim with used and new books. Welcome to The Strand! For as long as I’ve known one of my friends who lived in New York City for quite a few years, she has always had a bag from The Strand. I never knew what The Strand or 18 Miles of Books meant until we visited this amazing bookstore while in the City. While the inside of the bookstore is decently cool with its vintage-looking actually new books and other actually new-looking new best sellers, the best part of entire store is outside. Even though it was negative a billion degrees outside, there were still carts and carts of use books for real cheap lined up outside. I’m sure it’s quite impossible to look through all the books unless you have nothing to do all day long, but we did get to browse for a little while before they closed at 8 pm. I found the book Eat, Pray, Love for just $2 and thought it as worth those two George Washingtons. I’m sure with more time though, there would have been even more treasures to be found hidden in the troves of book shelves. Well, maybe next time!
