{san diego} ayce korean!

March 16, 2013

When SGT Fong and I were in South Korea, we made sure to go and try some real Korean BBQ. It’s pretty awesome and also pretty expensive. Considering there’s a lot of meat involved, it makes sense that it was an expensive meal. It’s also expensive here in the U.S. though you can get a much better deal if you go to an all-you-can-eat place. Jeong Won is one of two all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ places that I know about in San Diego. The other is Manna, which I hear some people prefer but the wait is ridiculous. So we decided to go to Jeong Won and, let me tell you, it was pretty delicious. The bulbogi (marinated beef) and white fish were the best. All the vegetables and mushrooms were pretty delicious, too. Plus, I love garlic so roasting the garlic and then eating it with the meat just made everything that much more tasty. There was even soft serve to fill in the cracks after we were done. So yum! The only not-so-awesome thing about AYCE Korean BBQ is that I never realized how greasy the meat can get. I ended up using my rice to soak up the fat before eating the meat. Ha!
