[room 329] peaceful green social stories
August 29, 2013
Every morning right after breakfast and after the students put their backpacks away and are ready to start the day on the carpet, we review the agenda for the day. Right after reviewing and answering any questions about the agenda, we read the same exact book every single day. It’s my favorite book because it’s a social story that reminds all my students about how to show appropriate behavior at school. It goes over the basics of how to stand in line, how to sit on the carpet, and how all these “peaceful green behaviors” help us earn a green puzzle piece in our home-school communication notebooks. My favorite page though is the one that reminds students that peaceful green behavior also means that sometimes you have to do things even if you don’t want it. Now isn’t that a great life lesson to review every morning just as school is starting?
