{phx} seeing nature for free

June 18, 2009

It sucks that you have to pay at all to see nature, I mean, it’s nature! But I suppose it helps preserve those amazing places, it’s worth it — at the least the cost is generally pretty minimal. Most of the time it’s only $5 per person or sometimes even $5-6 per car. So what’s even better is the fact that for three weekends this summer, admission will be free to over 100 national parks and monuments all over the country — just in Arizona there are 16!

Free weekends: June 20-21, July 18-19, August 15-16.

Participating national parks + monuments
Casa Grande Ruins National Monument
Chiricahua National Monument
Glen Canyon National Recreation Area
Grand Canyon National Park
Lake Mead National Recreation Area
Montezuma Castle National Monument
Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument
Petrified Forest National Park
