{scottsdale} it’s SMoCA!

June 27, 2009

Remember I talked about the Culture Pass and visiting the library. Well, all that trouble finally got me into the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA) for free. There were only two exhibits open, but they were quite good.

At the Crossroads of American Photography: Callahan, Siskind, Sommer
This exhibit focused on Harry Callahan, Aaron Siskind and Frederick Sommer, three photographers from the mid-1900s, who helped shaped American photography and photography as an art form.

Seriously Funny
This exhibit was commissioned by SMoCA for  its 10th anniversary. It used peices by 10 different aritsts from around the world who comment on society, culture and identity today in a funny way.
