[good reads] the gift

goodreads-header

goodreads-thegift Cecelia Ahern is the famous author of the more famous book P.S. I Love You that’s been turned into a movie. She isn’t just a one hit wonder though. The other day, I finished reading her book The Gift. It’s one of those books that makes you really think about your life, your values, and the all the time that you spend doing each day.

I don’t want to give the book away, because the ending is quite crazy, but it’s about a guy who spends way too much time on his work. He’s always at the office or out with work people or schmoozing others for work. This obviously means he’s been quite neglectful of his home life, his wife and kids. A homeless guy he happens to give a cup of coffee to helps him realize this before it’s too late.

At the same time, there’s another story unfolding about a teenager, a frozen turkey, and the anger he feels toward his father. Perhaps it won’t be too late for him either? Well, you’ll have to read the book to find out. You must be wondering what “the gift” is. This gift is the most valuable thing ever, more valuable than money can buy!
