{tempe} el hefe’s tacos

June 6, 2015

Happy Birthday Mamie!

My friend from Michigan was in town (or in Tempe) for work so we met up on Mill Avenue for dinner. Not really knowing what we should eat, we finally decided on El Hefe: Super Macho Taquería. Being put on the waiting list when we walked in, we decided to sit at the bar first, but then ended up staying there since it was just fine. We ordered a bunch of tacos to share after starting on some 20 oz. House Margaritas that were on the Happy Hour menu and some tortilla chips that came with a variety of salsas. The five little tacos we tried were Duck Carnitas, Pork Al Pastor, Fried Avocado, Camarónes, and Beef Cheek. I was super sad that my least favorite was the Fried Avocado that didn’t even seem like it had that much fried avocado in it. The Beef Cheek was sweet though and for sure made up for the lack of flavor of the Fried Avocado! The other tacos were delicious as well!

You forgot to mention that the bartenders (who would be underdressed at a hooters) wouldn’t give us the time of day, but at least the tacos were on special!
