{phx} la barquita eats

June 11, 2015

A molcajete is traditionally a stone bowl used along with a tejolote to grind various foods like guacamole or spices. Traditionally that’s how these bowls are used. In many homes, molcajetes are also used as serving bowls because they stay hot for a long time. On a recent visit to La Barquita Restaurant, we ordered the Molcajete Bowl to share. It came filled with sausage, beef, chicken, fish, and even cactus. You then take a combination of any of the ingredients being kept warm by the molcajete to fill your handmade corn tortillas along with beans, cheese, and guacamole. Can you imagine how tasty?
