{phx} a studio for pizza

June 15, 2015

At Subway, you essentially create your own sub sandwich; at Chipotle, you create your own burrito; at Gadzooks, you create your own enchiladas; and at Pizza Studio, you get to create your own pizza!

Pizza Studio has locations all over the country, but the store in Downtown Phoenix’s Civic Center was the first one I’ve ever seen or visited. I appreciated how there were actually already-created pizza options as well as create-your-own options. First you choose your crust: Traditional, Whole Grain & Flax Seed, Rosemary Herb, Firecracker, or Gluten-Free. Second you choose your sauce: Tomato Blend, Basil Pesto, Tangy BBQ, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, or Spicy Buffalo. Then you add cheese: Freshly Grated Mozzarella, Crumbled Feta, or Crumbled Goat. Next you choose as many of the toppings as you would like. Finally they put it in the rolling oven for just three minutes. Since the crust is very thin, it really is done cooking in three minutes! Last you eat the pizza all up! Yum!

I do appreciate the many meanings of the restaurant’s name though because not only do you get a chance in the Pizza Studio to create your own pizza masterpiece, you get to enjoy lots of different locally-created art that are hanging on the wall for sale … just like in a studio!
