{taipei} xindian xiaolongbao

September 15, 2015

True xiaolongbaos are one of my favorite foods because not only is the wrapper thin, the filling is flavorful, and there’s soup that squirts out of each tiny dumpling. Usually the best xiaolongbao places are super expensive, but recently, my grandma and aunt discovered a place in xindian (close to my other aunt’s house) that is not that expensive and just as delicious. This is likely due to the fact that the place is locally-owned and a bit of a hole-in-the-wall. This is the exact reason I’m not telling you the name of this place because if I did and social media amazingly got wind of this place, the next time I’m in Taiwan I’ll have to wait in line to get in!

I just loved the xiaolongbaos here. Not only did they have typical pork and the popular silk-melon varieties, they also had pork with crab meat and roe. This is rare and usually extremely expensive so being able to eat these xiaolongbao dumplings stuffed with pork and crab meat and roe just made my day! Oh, yum, yum, yum!
