[room 113a] noodle art

September 24, 2015

The art teacher at my school is so amazing. I have honestly said this about a specials teacher before and feel so blessed that finally I have met a specials teacher who, 1. cares about my students enough to differentiate for them, and 2. clearly knows what she is doing.

Before school started, I met up with her to go over IEPs and share with her just how low functioning my students are this year. So far she has done an amazing, amazing job differentiating for them and coming up with wonderful sensory-filled activities so that they can not only work on their fine motor skills and learn academics, but have fun at the same time. For example, during week 1, she made play dough and had the students mix them to go along with our learning about colors. During this past week, she had the students use dyed noodles to outline their name and then sight words. Isn’t she just amazing?!?
