goodreads-header

goodreads-howtosavelifeI read a strange book recently, How to Save A Life by Sara Zarr. It was actually really well-written book especially since it’s aimed at teenage girls and is written in the voice of two different teenage girls coming from very different places. Reading this book, you realize how even when two people are the same age, they can be so different. Jill MacSweeny and Mandy Kalinowski are as different as they come except that they’ve both experienced pain and suffering. This eventually brings them together in ways that a reader would hardly imagine (hence the title) especially since they seem to hate each other so much at the beginning of the book.

Personally, I’m not sure I was a huge fan of this book or anything, and I always get confused when a book is written in the voice of multiple characters. In the beginning I couldn’t remember if it was Jill whose dad died or Mandy who was pregnant. Nevertheless, I think teenage girls would enjoy this novel. Perhaps I should read some books that are for my age group?!?
