{singapore} pulau ubin’s bike trails

November 8, 2015

There’s more to Singapore than just the mainland. Not only is there Sentosa Island to its south, there’s also Pulau Ubin to its northeast. During my time in Singapore, I really wanted to spend some time on Pulau Ubin so I planned a day trip over to the island. Here’s part two of three of my Pulau Ubin adventures.

The best way to get around Pulau Ubin is on bike because the island is fairly large and quite hilly. The hills, of course, made the bike riding a bit difficult as well. As soon as you get off the boat, you are greeted with a multitude of places renting bicycles for a wide variety of prices. I tried to get the best deal and it was pretty effective because obviously all the bikes are pretty much the same. It’s not like the more expensive ones are that much higher quality or newer than the cheaper ones. Anyway, after I rented a bike, I tried to map out of way to see as much of the island as possible. It was fun to follow along the road and bike trails and just be surrounded by so much nature! Seeing the monkeys playing in the trees was the absolute best part! Seeing the old granite quarries (hence the island’s English name: Granite Island) is also quite a sight!
