{singapore} pulau ubin’s chek jawa

November 9, 2015

There’s more to Singapore than just the mainland. Not only is there Sentosa Island to its south, there’s also Pulau Ubin to its northeast. During my time in Singapore, I really wanted to spend some time on Pulau Ubin so I planned a day trip over to the island. Here’s part three of three of my Pulau Ubin adventures.

During my bike riding adventure, I made it over to Chek Jawa. Chek Jawa Wetlands is one of Singapore’s richest ecosystems where six major habitats meet and mix. The 100-hectare wetlands area is located on the south-eastern tip of Pulau Ubin. I loved seeing all the mangrove trees. If I had been able to visit during the area’s once-a-month super low tide, all the stuff in the tidal pools would have been visible, too. Alas, I was not so lucky. Either way, Chek Jawa is quite the sight!
