{sf} viet fusion @ mau

December 5, 2015

Apparently in the Northeast part of the United States, mau is a slang word meaning eat. In Vietnam, however, mau has many meanings: model, archtype, color, quickly, and blood. In San Francisco, it’s the name of a Vietnamese fusion restaurant that certainly delivers on both the Vietnamese side and fusion side of their description. How much better is it that Mau also happens to be the fusion of two families? According to their website, “Mau is the creation of two families, one a San Francisco local with Vietnamese roots the other, longtime Mission residents that share a common love of food and felt that the Mission needed a great Vietnamese restaurant.” Well, I’m certainly glad this fusion relationship and restaurant came about, though I will be honest, it’s my first time really visiting a Vietnamese fusion restaurant, so I wasn’t exactly sure the best way to go about ordering.
