{nyc} penny farthing

December 30, 2015

Eating brunch on weekends has become a huge phenomenon. I have a few friends in the city who strive to find the best brunch places in the city. I haven’t quite jumped on the brunch bandwagon yet, but I recently tried a pretty good brunch place near my dorm called Penny Farthing. It had a pub-y, comfortable feel to it. It wasn’t too fancy, but it wasn’t at all shabby. I think the name itself, referring to a historical bicycle, is pretty cute.

For brunch, you receive a complimentary beverage. Unfortunately, we were too young to order mimosas, but instead we ordered some juice, which tasted fresh and tangy. I ordered the Eggs Florentine, while my friends tried the Smoked Salmon Benedict and the Eggs Benedict.

My Eggs Florentine was pretty tasty. The eggs were nicely runny and I liked the addition of the home fries and salad. I thought the homemade hollandaise was fantastic! My friends seemed to enjoy their meals as well.

I’m not sure if I would return due to all the brunch places in the city, but it was definitely a good brunch experience.
