{sf} olive this + olive that

March 1, 2016

I have a friend here in San Francisco who is really into nice olive oil. He is constantly talking about how good olive oil makes or breaks the dish. And if you have good olive oil, that’s seriously all the flavor you need (sometimes). While he does own regular people olive oil, too, he likes to do salad dressings and other things with really nice olive oil and aged balsamic vinegar from a small local store in Noe Valley. This place has the best name – Olive This and Olive That – and is conveniently right along my bus route home so I got a chance to stop in one afternoon and took a look around. It was kind of interesting to see all the different kinds of olive oils and aged vinegars in large vats that they fill into bottles for you once you decide to purchase. I really also liked the idea of buying already flavored pastas that you then only have to dress with a drizzle of fancy olive oil. I’m not sure about the price of this stuff though. Is it really worth it?!?
