{tennessee} century farm wines

April 4, 2016

Did you know that Tennessee is home to many a vineyard? I certainly did not know this! And you’ll be interested to know that these are not your typical vineyards that produce the well known Pinots, Chardonnays, Cabernets, Merlots, or Zinfandels. In fact, the grapes that grow in Tennessee are ones that I had never even heard of before visiting one of these vineyards during our travels from Nashville to Memphis.

Here in Tennessee there are grapes named Catawba, Chardonel, Golden Muscat, Muscadine, and Traminette. My first reaction was … what?!? Then, I tried some of these wines and was pleasantly surprised by how different some of them tasted from the typical grapes that we drink regularly in California. What an adventure! By the way, Tennessee is also known for its fruits wines and I was so enamored by a blueberry wine that I bought a bottle to bring home!

So many award-winning wines!
