{memphis} elvis’ sun studio

May 3, 2016

While I decided against spending the $45 to visit Graceland, there were still a few Elvis-y things that I wanted to do during my time in Memphis. This meant for sure visiting Sun Studio where Elvis and many of the important musical legends of that time jammed and recorded albums. Tours here start almost every half an hour (sometimes every hour depending on the time of day), but you can’t buy tickets ahead of time, so you have to get here early and reserve your ticket time. Sometimes that means reserving tickets for a later tour and then coming back when it’s about to start. That’s what we did!

The bad thing is that this place was so packed that there were way too many people on our tour and it was a little bit difficult to head what the guide was saying even though he was quite good and played many parts of songs for us to hear. It was also super neat to see things like Elvis’ social security card, his diploma, many of his guitars, and that famous microphone that everyone used!
