{sf} tea garden, japanese-style

May 16, 2016

The Japanese Tea Garden at Golden Gate Park has been on my list of places to visit in this City ever since I moved here. This place was particularly high on the list because on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, you can get in for free before 10 am! I was just waiting for a long weekend when I happened to be in town because then I could get there early and walk in before 10 am!

Finally I got a chance to visit the oldest public Japanese garden in the United States! Since we got there before 10 am and it was free, the place was absolutely packed! I guess that’s the downside of going when it’s free because that’s when everyone and their mother goes, too. Despite having to meander around all the bodies, the garden itself was quite beautiful. I was surprised and a little disappointed that there weren’t any cherry trees in the garden though. Their flowers would have made the entire experience that much more beautiful!
