My class recently read a book called Tuko and the Birds, which tells a tale from the Philippines. Tuko is a gecko who found a bamboo hut filled with birds who sang every evening. He wanted to join them, but his song was just so horrible the birds didn’t want him there! For an entire week, the birds had to work together to get rid of Tuko. In the end, his own greed ended his time at the bamboo hut and he’s been too embarrassed since the incident to tell anyone what happened! After reading this book, my class created a Tuko and the Birds scene complete with bamboo hut. I think it turned out pretty well!
