{penang} black-dome mosque

August 4, 2016

There are a number of mosques in Penang. Malaysia is actually an amazing place when it comes to cultures living side-by-side. Of course, there are many problems and it’s for sure not a perfect example of cultural harmony, but the fact that you can find Buddhist temples, Hindu temples, and Muslim mosques all on the same street is pretty telling.

One of the biggest and most beautiful mosques in Penang is Masjid Kapitan Keling with its standout black dome feature. Located near the center of George Town, Penang, this mosque was actually built by Indian Muslim traders in the 1800s.
