{penang} kek lok si is pure bliss, part 2

August 7, 2016

Kek Lok Si or Temple of Supreme Bliss is located in Air Tram, Penang (outskirts of George Town, the main Penang port connecting it to the mainland). Kek Lok Si is not only the most well-known and well-visited Buddhist temples on Penang Island, it is arguably the largest Buddhist temple in Malaysia.

While most of Kek Lok Si is free for visitation, there are a few parts where you have to pay extra to go in. I suppose this makes sense though the entire place is pretty tourist-ed-out and there are shops selling souvenirs and incense on almost every floor of the temple. The Chinese/Thai/Burmese pagoda one of the pay-to-enter parts of the temple. We decided to pay the few dollars and do this so we could climb up and not only get a pretty amazing view but see all Guanyin and Buddha statues. And let me tell you, there were a lot of them!
