{sf} city-est of city halls

September 10, 2016

I would have to argue that San Francisco has one of the most elegant City Halls out there. Of course it has a beautiful dome on top (which I found out is actually three domes), and lots of gold edging, but the best part is that it’s always lit up with different colors at night.

Recently, I found out that there’s a group in San Francisco gives free walking tours in different neighborhoods in the City. I decided to go on one in the City Hall area and learned all about the buildings in the entire square, how they were designed with exact precision and parallel, and then we got to go inside City Hall to see some of the architecture and spaces inside. Did you know that this place was built to be a building that anyone can feel free to walk into and gather? Well, apparently that was the intention so you’ll often see yoga groups and other such groups happening right inside City Hall! Interesting huh?

Inside two domes

She used to be on top of the old City Hall before it was destroyed by the earthquake.

Did you know Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera got married here?
