{melaka} red christ church

September 26, 2016

Christ Church Melaka might be the oldest functioning Protestant church in Malaysia, but that’s not why it’s famous. In fact, I’m pretty sure it’s super famous because it’s located in the central Stadthuys area of the City on Jalan Gereja (Church Street) and it’s red! In fact, it seems as though almost the entire square is red. The church itself was built by the Dutch because when the took the area over from the Portuguese, they didn’t have a suitable place to worship. All the red buildings in the square, along with the Queen Victoria Fountain (built by the British during their time in the area) and the colorfully decorated trishaws rolling around the entire area make this a red adventure to not forget!
