{tioman} island love

October 8, 2016

During my stay in Malaysia, I really wanted to spend some time on the beautiful beaches in Southeast Asia. I decided that one of the best ways to do this was to combine this with an island getaway so I decided to travel to Mersing (southeast) and take the (2 hour) ferry over to Pulau Tioman, one of the larger island off of Malaysia’s eastern coast.

There are a number of small villages on Tioman that are ferry-accessible. I decided to go to Kampong Salang, which was absolutely beautiful. I loved that the area was not densely inhabited. There are lots of tourists who spend time here (many for extended stays), but definitely the place was not crowded and did not feel overly touristy. I had such a nice time hanging out on the beaches, scuba diving and seeing all the fish swimming in the clear waters, and just taking in the island life. This place was hard to leave!
