{temecula} floating with hot air

January 23, 2017

I have many, many, many, many, many things on my bucket list. One of these things happens to be riding a hot air balloon. Granted I had always imagined that it would be a romantic sunset one, but a not-so-sunrise one with my family works, too. Over the holiday break, my family decided to head over to Temecula (not too far from where my parents live in San Diego) to try this once-in-a-lifetime experience of riding a hot air balloon. I’m disappointed to say that while it was advertised as a sunrise balloon ride, it was definitely no where near sunrise, especially since we got the short end of the stick and got stuck on the “second hop”, which is after the first group went up and came back down again. Even the “first hop” lifted off way after sunrise though, so I’m pretty sure that’s just straight up lies coming from the company.

Moving past that initial disappointment and feelings of being duped, the hot air balloon ride itself was absolutely amazing. It was a little chilly, but also quite warm thanks to the fire above our heads. We each got a chance to fuel the flame and pretend to fly the balloon ourselves like little kids on an airplane, and we got to see amazing views of the valley below. Awesome!!! And bucket list item … check!
