{nice} french voyage day 8

March 19, 2017

Perhaps my favorite city in all of France was Nice, in the southeast corner of the country right on the Mediterranean Coast. This was my first time seeing the Mediterranean Sea and I just could not get over how intensely blue the water was. This French Riviera area had weather that was quite a bit different from France’s capital, but it was a welcome change after all that dreariness. I loved both getting lost in Old Town (Vieille Ville)’s narrow alleyways and walking along the Promenade des Anglais with the blue sea on one side and tourist traps along the other. All the while, stopping for some Niçoise snacks that are heavily Italian influences liked socca (chickpea pancake), pissaladière (pizza-like dish), les petits farcis (stuffed vegetables), fried anchovies, and various rosé wines. What a city!
