{puerto rico} san juan palomas

June 5, 2017

Palomas are pigeons. There is an entire park dedicated to these birds in Old San Juan. In fact, it’s even called Parque de las Palomas. This semi-hidden park is next to Capilla del Cristo at the end of Cristo Street and must be where all the pigeons in the entire city gather. The fact that people can pay $1 and buy some food to feed these pigeons probably doesn’t “helps” the situation. While I don’t personally think pigeons are all that great, I still think it’s neat to see so many birds all in one place especially when they poke their heads out of the wall holes or cover the main tree in the center of the square.
